PRAYER QUILT TO BE TIED TODAY
Katie Schlitaty (sister of a best friend of Suzy Bridges). Katie is having quite a bit of anxiety now. She had colon cancer diagnosed over a year ago, underwent treatment, and was given a clean bill of health in November 2018. In January 2019, Katie went back, not feeling well. Cancer was found in another portion of her colon. Three months of treatment were done. Then a CT scan found a very aggressive form of colon cancer has spread to her lungs, liver, and lymph nodes, and possibly other areas. A specialist determined that the drug available for her kind of cancer is not adequate, and her best bet is to seek a trial of some kind. Katie asks for prayers for peace of mind.
Flowers in the Sanctuary today are provided by the Wrightson family in honor of Chuck’s birthday.
After Church Snacks –The Deacons and Fellowship Committee encourage everyone who would like coffee and snacks after Sunday morning services to partake sooner after the conclusion of the services rather than later. This is to make sure you don’t miss out and to give adequate time for clean-up.
Ladle Fellowship Thank You – Thank you to the following MMPC volunteers who offered smiles, Christian love, service, and fellowship to First Presbyterian Church’s Ladle Fellowship on Sunday, July 7, 2019: Molly and Elanor Sievers, Judy Burt, Julie Smith, Janis Jones, Yoko Taylor, Cheryl Weldon, Amanda Dowell, Rev. Duncan McColl, and John and Suzy Bridges. Thank you also to Pat and Mary Jane Hubbard who sent along 7 medium size boxes of men’s clothing donations, and Roger and Elsa Ang who sent 20 Deluxe Hygiene kits. We are making a difference to some of San Diego’s forgotten citizens! Our next opportunity to serve will be Sunday, September 1, 2019. You will be blessed if you join us.
Mid-Year Giving Statements – Mid-year Giving Statements have been emailed or mailed. Please direct any questions to MMPC Treasurer Susan Nielsen at 858-672-7160 or email@example.com.
Backpack Drive in July – MMPC is collecting backpacks and school supplies during the month of July to be given to PUM in anticipation of schools starting in August. Backpacks and supplies will also be collected at Vacation Bible School as their Mission project. Please place items in the PUM donation box in the Narthex. The last date to donate will be July 28th. PUM provides support and connections from homelessness to hope. They witness transformations daily. Take heart in knowing that your donation makes a difference in people’s lives. If you have any questions, contact Tracy or Sheryl McAtee or John or Suzy Bridges.
