Mira Mesa Presbyterian Church offers numerous opportunities for Christian Education and fellowship.

Our Christian Education committee is responsible for the youth programs, church school, adult education, child care, and the church library.

Mira Mesa Presbyterian Preschool

MMPP is a nationally accredited preschool. We offer a half-day enrichment program for children 2 years to 5 years of age. Our focus is a developmental multi-cultural philosophy of education. We offer an outstanding quality preschool program with high standards while meeting the needs of the community.

Church member preregistration

Mira Mesa Presbyterian Preschool will be registering children for the 2008 Summer and Fall sessions as follows:

  • March 6: Current students and their siblings
  • March 24-28: MMPC church family and alumni
  • March 31: Waiting list and community
Fall sessions available for Tues/Thurs or M/W/F for children ages 2 thru 5 years of age. Call the Preschool for enrollment information or to schedule a school visit (858) 578-2160; Website: www.mmppusa.com.

Summer session is June 17 through July 17, 2008.

Nursery Care

Nursery Care for children under the age of three is available during the Sunday church service.

Sunday School

Children aged 3 through Kindergarten age go directly to their classes at 9:30 a.m. Elementary-age children (up through grade 5) attend the opening portion of the workship service with their families and are dismissed to their Sunday School classes following the Children's Sermon. An excellent curriculum from Group Publishing makes Sunday School fun for teachers and students.

Acolytes

Jesus, who is the Light of the World, said, "Where three or more have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst."

The acolytes light the altar candles at the beginning of Sunday worship. At the end of worship, they carry the light at the close of the service, to symboliz our congregation carrying the Light of Christ out into the community.

Acolytes also assist during communion and baptisms.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a one-week daytime program during the summer. This year's summer program theme is Power Lab, where kids will discover God's miraculous power! We'll have music, creative snacks, learning centers, and lots of fun!

Ages range from 3 years through 5th grade. Parent committment is required -- this promises to be a fun time for everyone!

If you have any questions, or would like to help us out (there’s always something bubbling up in a lab!), please call leave a message for our VBS leader (a.k.a., the lab professor) at the church office. She will be very glad to tell you a thing or two about what’s happening in the lab.

Adult Bible Studies are offered throughout the year, taught by Pastor Will. Come join us as we take a look at the Bible and learn to appreciate it, not only as the word of God, but also as a remarkable library of history, literature, and religion. Contact the church office for more information.

Another Bible study, coordinated by some of our members, meets on Sunday mornings after church in the conference room.

The Women's Bible study is held at 11 a.m. on Thursday mornings at MMPC in the conference room. Please call the church office for more information.

The Library is located at the rear of the sanctuary in the room that also serves as the Quiet Room.

A self-checkout procedure is used, therefore, the Library is available whenever the church is open. Simply follow the steps in the gray frame on the wall. Books may be checked out for two weeks, and renewals are possible.

Drop off your returns in the gray box. Because we need to keep circulation records, library personnel will check in and reshelve the books.
