3. Reduce the number of Elders per class from 4 to 3 (Article IV, Section 3)

Mission Meeting – There will be a Mission Meeting in the Library today, at 11:00 am after the Congregational Meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Prayers & Squares Quilting Ministry Workshop - Please join us on Saturday, May 5th, in the Conference Room from 9:30 a.m. until Noon. Prayers & Squares is open to anyone with an interest in meeting new people and working on prayer quilts for those in need of our prayers. If you have questions or would like to request a prayer quilt, prayer square or prayer bear, please call Mary Jane Hubbard or Peggy Davis or speak to anyone involved in this prayer ministry. Check the Prayers & Squares Prayer Quilt Ministry website for all the latest information on the local and national level at www.prayerquilt.org. If you leave a Prayer Quilt Request Form in the box in the office – please call so we can schedule time to work on your request. Thank you!

Next Ladle Fellowship Opportunity - MMPC’s next opportunity to serve at Ladle Fellowship of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego will be Sunday, May 6th. A hot meal is served to some of San Diego’s unemployed, under-employed, poor, and neglected. Ladle Fellowship needs donations of blankets, men’s coats, pants, socks, shoes, and toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. Bring these items to the church by Sunday, May 6th. The time we will serve is 1:00-4:00 pm. We are hoping to bring 12 volunteers. Please sign up in the Breezeway. For questions, please contact John or Suzy Bridges.

Communion – As we prepare to take Communion next Sunday, let us reflect on how we prepare for receiving the Lord’s Supper. In 1 Corinthians 11:27-28, the Apostle Paul gives us some insight in how to do that. Also, let us remember that this is the “joyful feast of the people of God”. The focus of Communion is to remember the Lord and thank Him for His sacrifice.

PUM Spring Food Drive – Presbyterian Urban Ministries (PUM) has asked our congregation to donate the following items during the month of May: dry pasta, canned vegetables and fruit, and canned soups. Please place the food in the bin in the Narthex. If you have any questions, contact Sheryl or Tracy McAtee.

The 12th Annual Golf4Good event to benefit Presbyterian Urban Ministries (PUM), a 501(c) (3) outreach of the Presbytery of San Diego, will be held on Monday, June 4th, at the Admiral Baker Golf Course, 2400 Admiral Baker Road, San Diego, CA 92120. The event is a major fund-raiser for PUM. Green fees, cart fees, buffet lunch, soft drinks on the course, access to the driving range and range balls, raffle, live and silent auctions, and dinner after the tournament are all included in the registration fee of $170 per golfer. G4G is not just for golfers. PUM supporters wishing to attend only the buffet dinner, raffle, live and silent auctions, and awards ceremony may do so for $30. All event proceeds go to PUM to support the Christ-centered services to the poor and homeless of urban San Diego. Please contact Stan Joosse, or visit Golf4Good.org to register or obtain additional information.

BIO for REV. ROSALIND B. ZICCARDI (guest speaker)

The Rev. Rosalind B. Ziccardi earned her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained in the San Diego Presbytery. She and her husband, Gary, also a PCUSA minister, traipsed the world with the Air Force Chaplain Corps traveling to duty stations around the continental U. S. as well as Italy, Germany, England, and Japan, where Gary retired after 30 years of military service. Rosalind’s pastoral call had unique opportunities in each location, including writing Sealed and Delivered, a theological novel conceived at their first duty station and published at their last.
